Lauds Madelyn #3
The Hours Collection
Named for the hours of
daylight, this is a floral blending that includes the following aromatics:
Violet, Bergamot and Lavender.
From Morocco, on the
northern edge of the Sahara, medieval traders would bring this effusive
emerald oil to the market or the Souk in sealed clay pots. Pressed from
the fruit peel of a small citrus tree the light sensitive oil must be
protected to ensure that BERGAMOT retain its full piquant potency.
This purple-blue shrub was common to the shore lands of the Mediterranean
and was in firm favor in both Ancient Greece and Rome. It was often used
as an antiseptic or a purifier, or to scent bathing waters and its Roman
name, “Lavare,” means to wash clean. We know it by the name LAVENDER.
The tiny five petal
VIOLET is the most mentioned flower of
classical Greek literature. Its fleeting season, from late February to
early April, was eagerly anticipated, for this delicate flower offered
both sweet subtle scent as well as therapeutic properties. Braided
garlands were woven from the flowers and worn as a crown to ensure a
restful and scented sleep. |
